ISA and the University of Maryland Police Academy Host Active Shooter Discussion

On the ninth of January 2013, ISA was joined by representatives from the Dept. of Homeland Security, Maryland and Virginia college law enforcement and the US Air Force for a facilitated discussion on the active shooter & work place violence threat as seen from the close protection perspective.

While the biggest discussions around the country are focused on first responders getting to the location of a shooter or violent act and what actions to take when arriving, many protection details for corporate CEO’s, elected officials, judges, or diplomats may already be on site and within the buildings. So this discussion focused on the 15 minute response time of first responders and the responsibilities of the close protection agent during those first few minutes.

For more information on this topic or the event please contact us at [email protected] and we will be happy to share the comments and recommendations of the discussion group.

Our special thanks to all the participants and the University police academy for hosting the event.
